Please scroll down this page to see what we have been up to so far this year. We have included in red what people have said about us.

Also this month, we began the process of returning our 1937 Austin Ten Cambridge to the road, with the intention of it joining the self drive hire fleet. This one is going to be something of a slow burn, as the news from Austins of Old Arley is that the engine is very unwell and the gearbox is not much better.

Today both of our MGB cars were at the MG Owners Club workshop in Swavesey. We were collecting the roadster following servicing and MOT. At the same time we dropped off the GT for its second visit in 2 months - Servicing in December and now returning for MOT.

Tom hired our GT for the weekend and had an enjoyable couple of days in the glorious sunshine.
"Had a great weekend with GYD851N from Drives of Yesteryear. The car was a real joy to drive and the owner was a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend." Tom

It was love across the pond as Hertfordshire man Joseph married his American bride, Ashley, in Sandridge on American Independence Day. To complete the symbolism of linking the two nations, our quintessentially British Armstrong Siddeley took Ashley to the church for the service, while Joseph had also booked our Mustang for self drive hire in order to then drive them to the reception at the Farmhouse at Redcoates in Little Wymondley.

Chris and Georgina took Idris, our red roadster, to Norfolk for a few days while visiting friends. While there they visited Poppylands tea room, Horsey.
11-12 July 2025

Edward got married at South Farm, near Royston and chose to drive himself to the ceremony in our Mustang. The car was transporting the remains of the wedding cake when it returned to us - how is that for something a little different.

"We would highly recommend Drives of Yesteryear! We have always loved Mustangs so a vintage 1960s mustang was the perfect choice for our wedding car. The car looked amazing and was in excellent condition and we got lots of lovely photos with it. Harvey was very helpful and patient with the paperwork and also with explaining how the car worked, so it was very easy and enjoyable to drive away from our wedding and around Hertfordshire the morning after our wedding. We also really appreciate how flexible Harvey was with pick up and drop off times, which meant we didn't have to feel rushed or worry about timings on the day. Thank you so much Harvey for helping us with our big day!" Edward and Alice

Julie and Jeffrey came over from Australia for a European tour. The UK leg of the tour coincided with Jeffrey's birthday so Julie treated him to a day driving our roadster. Their day included a visit to the classic car show at Kimbolton Castle.

Pippa and Peter hired Idris for their wedding. Pippa's father drove her to the church while Peter took the wheel for the journey to the reception.
"Thank you so much, Harvey!
We rented the Red MGB for our wedding and it was perfect - Father of the Bride and Groom loved driving it and it looks wonderful in the photos!
Harvey was so helpful and accommodating and we would 100% recommend hiring your car from him!
Thanks again,"

Kat booked our MGB GT as part of a surprise for her husband. Starting with a visit to Great Chishill Windmill, they then drove to Saffron Walden before venturing further into Suffolk
"My husband and I had a wonderful time taking Jake for a drive around the beautiful English countryside as part of my husband's 40th birthday celebrations and our 13th wedding anniversary. It was a pleasure to meet Harvey who is so very passionate about his cars. What a truly lovely experience. Thank you, Harvey." Kat

In a first for us, Madonna hired our roadster so that she could drive herself to her wedding at Old Hall Green and then onto the reception at South Farm, Near Royston.

"I hired a classic MGB GT as my birthday treat from Drives of Yesteryear as I wanted to see how practical it would be to use one on today’s roads. Following a confidence-inspiring walk through of the controls and operation of the car from Harvey (with a full written instructions also provided) my wife and I set off for our trip to the Suffolk coast. Drives of Yesteryear offer a real-world introduction to classic motoring and I highly recommend this experience. My only regret is that I didn’t hire it for longer than 24 hours!" Ian

Susanna booked Idris as a surprise for her husband. They drove to Suffolk for the weekend and had a lovely time. During the trip the car reached the milestone of 1,000 miles on hire this year.
On the way back to our base they stopped at Clare Castle which was receiving a visit from The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive. This wonderful event is a celebration of classic style. It is an on-road motoring event, uniting classic cars built 40 years or older, designed to encourage enthusiasts and vintage car owners around the world to dress dapper and drive for men’s health. Funds raised by the Distinguished Gentlemen support their charity partner, Movember.

Here you can see a small swarm of B's that are sitting, ticking over, in the September sunshine this morning waiting for two couples to pick them up to tour Cambridgeshire today.
The couples travelled to Shuttleworth House for their day, during the course of which the GT joined the roadster in the 1,000 miles on hire in 2025 club.

"Thank you so much for your time and means you give us to have a wonderfull time in England.
Kind regards.
Frederic"

With a wedding a few days away for one of our Armstrong Siddeley's it was time to check the route. Perfect late September sunshine made the choice of vehicle a simple one.

We took a trip down to Aldwickbury Park Golf Club this morning to deliver some flyers for their wedding Open Evening next week. Could not resist picking up the keys for the roadster as it is so much more fun than the modern car.

Today we were out again route learning for a forthcoming wedding. This time the stops were at Great Paxton and The Old Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon.

It felt like Groundhog day as we bookend this page with both of our MGB cars back at the MG Owners Club workshop in Swavesey.
This time we collected the GT following servicing and MOT and dropped off the roadster to go through the same process plus a few added extras to prepare for 2026.
6 December 2025
With the GT mechanically fit for the year ahead it went off to have some cosmetic bodywork attended to at the workshop where our MG 1300 estate was restored to health 9 years ago.

11 December 2025

It was back to the MG Owners Club workshop today to collect the MGB roadster.
It now has 12 months MOT; been serviced and had some shiny new parts fitted to ensure continuing reliability.
In addition to time on hire we have driven the car for almost 2,000 miles since the last MOT, which has enabled us to identify any developing issues early and undertake preventative maintenance.
13 December 2025

Saturday morning was spent with Bobbak from Bobby Talks Cars as he did some filming for a forthcoming feature on his Instagram page.

Many thanks to Fulbourn Lodge for the use of their stunning wedding venue as the backdrop. We took the opportunity to snap the car as it could look here for your wedding.
